Thanks to Ruth Lockley I’ve had a look through some of the archives of the Birmingham University Orienteering Club, and this is the first of two posts about what I found.

In the early 1970’s the University club was quite small but quite professional in its outlook, putting on proper events (including producing good maps) and paying close attention to proper training. The two A4 sheets reproduced here are a collection of tips from Age Hadler and Willy Lorentzen.

There’s also a more modern perforance evaluation sheet.
